Kindergarten registration information
Thursday, January 14, 2010
On Monday, Feb. 1, Carrollton Elementary School will begin accepting appointments for kindergarten registration for the 2010-2011 school year. Phone the CES main office at 770-832-2120 to make an appointment, which will be scheduled between March 1-19.

A child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 to be eligible for kindergarten. Children must accompany their parent/guardian to register. Guardians must bring guardianship papers.

Students who do not live in the Carrollton city limits also are eligible to register. Non-residents go through an application process at registration and are required to pay a tuition fee of $360 per family to attend the Carrollton City Schools if accepted.

Documents required for kindergarten registration include: A copy of the child's birth certificate; DHR form 3231 immunization certificate (Gold Cards cannot be accepted); DHR form 3300 vision, hearing and dental screening certificate; the child's Social Security card; and proof of residency.  Acceptable items to prove residency include water, gas and electric bills and original lease contracts – copies will not be accepted.  Utility bills or lease agreements must be in the parents' or legal guardians' name with address. Utility bills also must be dated within the last month.

Because of high demand, a lottery process will be used for prekindergarten registration for the 2010-2011 school year.  To apply, parents/guardians residing in the city limits of Carrollton should come to the school beginning Feb. 1 through Feb. 19 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. with the following information: Child's birth certificate, child's Social Security card and current proof of residency.  Acceptable proof of residency includes lease agreements and gas, water, or electric bills dated within the past 60 days.  A lottery drawing will take place following the application deadline.

Non-resident applications for prekindergarten will be accepted beginning Feb. 25 to be placed on a waiting list. Non-residents may be enrolled if any slots remain following the lottery drawing.

For more information about either registration process, contact the school at 770-832-2120.
